One More Sleep

The Outfitters - Thursday, June 25, 2015

“We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us.” ~Joseph Campbell

Tuesday 5am (3 more sleeps)
Scattered, tired, but still eager. I’m driven by some kind of primal energy at this point. Last night I weighed everything on the table. Cost cutting services translate to weight cutting measures. I poured half the camp soap out. Randy cut off my toothbrush. The Benadryl doesn’t really need a separate bottle. I even cut tags off the sleeping bag but, really, that was for fun (thanks Flora). Pretending to be that “light” backpacker. I’m really leaving, really figuring out the final steps. “Making sure” is a little maddening though. I know I have enough of everything (that’s the continuous dilemma) but still, there remains a list to be whittled and manipulated.

There is no way on God’s planet I can remember or predict it all. I still have a friggin blister that will not let go. I’ll be ok. Heck I know this trip will be about enduring a certain amount of pain all the time. But it’s for the glory of going. Of being out there. Of trying. Of lasting. Of lightness. Of the ‘ahas’ I will experience along the way.

The morning brings a certainty. But I will admit I am no longer refreshed after a night in the bed. Sleep is another form of list review despite what I might do to calm my thoughts.

I like the early morning - me and myself pouring over the details, counting snacks between drops, contemplating the essentials, knowing I can always bail out and run for a hotel. Already forgiving myself and allowing whatever this adventure becomes to be ok.

Wednesday (2 more sleeps)
I’m itchy to get going. My mantra - “Just let this start so I can screw up, figure it out and get in a groove”. That’s what this is about - depending on me, and the kindness of those I meet along the way. It will all fall into place. We are nomads after all.

Final details - maps, batteries, use the water filter (guilty - still in the box), practice the figure 8 (a knot), laundry, painkillers, stop obsessing, No more list making. Just do it if it needs doing, abandon it if not.

It’s strangely quiet here now after a week of frenzy and last minute purchasing. I got that feeling again, the one where I feel like I can. The unusual sound of my ticking watch is beside me. I’m bringing it in case the phone fails. I have a paper back up for almost everything but it is hard to not depend on technology. Except for SPOT.

Thursday (1 more sleep)
I’ve said most of my good byes. I awoke a few moments ago thinking of the trail, the eggs I want to carry (total indulgence), the amount of water I will consume, the time I’ll leave Port aux Basques. The planning has become more about the immediate and the present. I deleted photos, emails, and texts from the IPhone. It becomes my camera as of Sunday.

I’ve spent weeks connecting to wonderful people all across the province. I have people keeping an eye, expecting me, rooting for me. Ready to provide a bed or a meal or encouragement. The long term forecast is pretty good for the first three days walk. I couldn’t ask for better at 15 degrees. Blisters are all but gone!! (Leuko tape is the cat’s meow - thanks Eric).

Tomorrow is the first day of this journey.

You comin?

Before After

A lot of games have it so close minus a couple of minor details.
There are several games obtainable in market like sports, adventure, action and etc.
Not that there is anything wrong with Atari, I'm just saying.it's 2011.
include a little effort please. Even if the browser game you obtained seems like the full version, still won't be as complete while you hope so that it
is.

Utilize this to quickly go back into games you play often, or to easily bookmark a casino game you enjoyed playing.
Many people fail tests in class due to the excessive playing of video games
online. But again, the Yankees and their fans managed to move on. You are likely to
need a few items to get 'games on to your iPhone',
so make sure you have everything ready before you begin your search.

Hi would you mind letting me know which hosting company you're working with?

I've loaded your blog in 3 completely different web browsers and I must say this blog
loads a lot quicker then most. Can you recommend a good internet hosting provider at a reasonable price?
Cheers, I appreciate it!

First of all I would like to say terrific blog!
I had a quick question which I'd like to ask if you don't mind.
I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear your head before writing.
I've had a hard time clearing my thoughts in getting my thoughts out there.
I do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like the
first 10 to 15 minutes are generally lost just trying to
figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or hints? Thank you!
